Are you a nurse entitled to overtime?
Many hardworking nurses in the United States are not being paid overtime pay. This is wrong. The Federal Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) specifically requires most professions to receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in any workweek. It does not matter if the employee is a salary employee, or paid by the day, or paid by the job. Nurses, unfortunately, are often overlooked by their employers as deserving of overtime pay. This is illegal. If you are a nurse or in a nurse-related field, and you were not paid overtime, then you might be entitled to back pay and also an award of damages for your employers’ violation o the FLSA.
